AYSO EXTRA is returning to Madison AYSO Region 498 for 2026 with some updates from EXTRA in the past.

EXTRA is a competitive soccer league but still held under the AYSO recreational umbrella. This means that we follow the AYSO Six Philosophies, all coaches are trained in the AYSO coaching style, and costs are held low in line with AYSO rec. We will play games against other teams in the North Alabama Area, mostly on Friday evenings or Sunday afternoons. There will not be any entrance into tournaments, but there would be a tournament at the end of the season for the EXTRA circuit. 

REGISTRATION 
Registration will be available starting soon, with no guaranteed teams until we have enough coaches and players. There is no financial commitment to register.

TRYOUTS
Tryouts will start in early December with the location and time to be determined based upon the coach. 

TEAM FORMATION
Teams will be formed through December or possibly later as we have enough coaches and players. 

ELIGIBILITY
All players who played AYSO rec in Fall 2025 are eligible to try out for AYSO EXTRA. Players can play both EXTRA and Core in Spring 2026, and are encouraged to do so in order to improve their abilities.

PRACTICES
Teams will practice once per week around their other AYSO practices. 

GAMES
Games will start in mid-February and go through late May, with an EXTRA tournament planned for the weekend of May 29-31.
